Affordable. Accessible. Ecologically-Sustainable.

The Aspen Tree grows in abundance here in Bragg Creek, and symbolizes the strength of our community through diversity. Aspen groves are healthiest when they have trees at all levels of maturity. A grove with only trees of a certain age is far more vulnerable to natural disaster and disease.

Our seniors are important to us for their history, values and many gifts they bring the community at large. Affordable and accessible housing options are crucial for our seniors who are otherwise without transportation and amenities when they have lost capability for independent living in single family homes.

Welcome to the Bragg Creek Seniors Housing Society Website!

The Bragg Creek Seniors Housing project is ‘alive & well’ … but, unfortunately, ‘on hold’ for the immediate future.  We’ve been very busy exploring design/building/financing/partnership options in the past few months. We have fulfilled the majority of our subdivision conditions.  Those which remain are County levies/taxes required to complete the subdivision of our +/- 3 acre parcel from the parent parcel.

Thanks to Gracemark, a local consulting company, we have a wonderful costing package and have sent it out to builders who have expressed an interest in working with us to build this wonderful seniors community.  Due to their responses, we now have a much better sense of our capital cost budget.  And, because our site is on the flood fringe, there are many additional considerations/costs relating to flood risk mitigation, so we’re working to minimize these, as well.

Our perpetual ‘Achilles heel’ is the availability of municipal water and wastewater treatment for our project.  Without these services we cannot proceed with this project.  Hence, we’re working closely with the County staff to support them in any way we can to ensure that these services will be available to our project.  We’re also asking you, as fellow community members, to provide your support to them so we can ensure the completion and success of our seniors housing project.

Again, until we know the outcome of the water/wastewater projects completion and time frame, our seniors housing project is ‘on hold’.  It just doesn’t make sense to incur any further costs until we are assured that we will have access to municipal water and wastewater treatment amenities.

Thank-you to our wonderful community members for your ongoing faith, support and interest.  Here’s to good news relative to the hamlet water/wastewater treatment projects soon!   Then we will be able to complete our subdivision, hire a builder, find a lender and we will have housing options for our seniors in the near future.
